Important Note

We compile this schedule to the best of our ability, but ferry companies often change their schedule and also change their schedule to accommodate a surge in tourists on busy weekends.

Please double-check with the ferry company (links below) schedule online and be prepared that your ferry may not leave at the time given above.

Moreover, on your way back to Donggang from Xiaoliuqiu, do note that the ferry loads up first come, first serve, and if its the end of a busy weekend or during the summer holidays, it could fill up quickly, so get in line 30-60 minutes before your ferry departure especially if you have a tight connection with your High-Speed Rail in Zuoying.

Driving to Donggang or Yanpu?

If you are driving to Donggang, there is a better alternative to the above that depart from Donggang Ferry Terminal, leaving from Yanpu, about a five-minute drive over the bridge from the Donggang Ferry Terminal.

There is one company called Dafuliuqiu. Their updated schedule you can find here.

THE KEY ADVANTAGE OF TAKING THIS COMPANY is FREE PARKING RIGHT NEXT DOOR, parking in Donggnag costs about NT$150 a day and is only about a five-minute drive away from Donggang.

Book Dafuliuqiu Ferry

However, there are two disadvantages to this one:

  1. Can't eat the great sushi/sashimi at the fish market next to Dongang as you wait for your ferry (but you can always drive there and park across the street)
  2. You dock at Dafu Pier instead of the main Baishawan pier where its easier to just walk to your scooter rental company, however, if you arrange your scooter rental ahead of time they can arrange a car to pick you up and take you to your shop (there is also one scooter company a short walk from Dafu Pier)

What are the difference?

Between 3 private boat companies, namely Leuco Sapphire, Taifu and Tungliu, they all sail off from Donggang Pier to Baisha Pier of Xiaoliuqiu. Leuco Sapphire is comparatively new company. Most tourists' activities and the island center are located close to Baisha Pier.

Other than the above, there is a public boat company running ferries from Donggang to Dafu Pier of Xiaoliuqiu. More locals will take that company as they offer  a bigger resident discount.

Xiaoliuqiu is famous for its breathtaking sea turtles, crystal-clear waters, and, more recently, its thriving coffee scene. As a devoted coffee lover (okay, maybe addict), I know the first thing on your mind when visiting a new place is: Where am I going to get my coffee? That’s exactly why I put this guide together.

When planning a beach getaway in Taiwan, Xiaoliuqiu stands out among the outlying islands and even rivals the popular beaches of Kenting. Why? Because it's protected from strong seasonal winds, making it an ideal destination for water activities or simply lounging on the sand any time of year. Outside the busy student summer holiday season (July-August) and long weekends, you'll often find Xiaoliuqiu’s beaches nearly empty—perfect for social distancing or just soaking up some serene island vibes.
