Great news for travelers visiting Liuqiu Island! The Liuqiu Post Office has officially launched a foreign exchange currency service, making it easier than ever for international visitors to exchange their money conveniently during their stay.

As of March 20, 2025, Chunghwa Post has introduced a foreign currency exchange service at the Liuqiu Post Office, supporting USD (United States Dollar), EUR (Euro), HKD (Hong Kong Dollar), JPY (Japanese Yen), and RMB (Chinese Yuan Renminbi). This initiative aims to provide greater convenience for the increasing number of international travelers visiting Liuqiu Island.

Meeting the Needs of a Growing Number of Tourists


According to statistics from the Dapeng Bay National Scenic Area Administration, the number of foreign visitors to Xiaoliuqiu surged from 27,119 in 2023 to 66,432 in 2024, an impressive 2.45-fold increase. Previously, the island lacked currency exchange services, forcing tourists to exchange money before arriving or risk running out of New Taiwan Dollars during their stay. Additionally, there are no ATMs on the island that allow foreign card withdrawals, making it even more challenging for international visitors to access cash. After discussions with tourism operators and local authorities, this service was successfully implemented.
